Mindbomb Films

Simply put, mindbomb is a studio designed to create breakthrough digital content and new forms of communication and entertainment. Founded on the vision of Directors Chris Kirk and Syd Garon, their methods combine the tools of digital artistry, strong artistic collaboration and the disciplines of narrative filmmaking. Their approach has led to the development of authentic, credible, and engaging content of all varieties designed to communicate with maximum impact to a digitally sophisticated audience.

Chris and Syd met amongst the heady cyberpunk new media scene of the 1990’s in San Francisco. Both can be characterized by their desire to push the capability of digital technology to create innovative entertainment in a completely virtual environment.

At mindbomb, both Chris and Syd work collaboratively on each project. Their skills range from artist to creative director and ultimately to director. Their work ranges from “live action” through complete digital execution. Chris has a degree in Film Theory from UC Berkley, and got his start directing music videos during the “Oaktown” rap scene of the 1990’s. During that time Chris also gained some agency experience working on the Levi’s account as part of FCB’s “Cyber-tank” then through his work at Chait Day/SF. Like Chris, Syd is also an artist, creative director, and director. He’s a graduate of the University of Miami with a degree in Film & Psychology. His first film, the groundbreaking animated cult feature “Wave Twisters” premiered at Sundance in 2001. The film also won the coveted “Best Midnight Movie” Prize at SXSW Film Festival and became the first digital acquisition at SF MOMA. Syd’s second Film “N.A.S.A. The Spirit of Apollo” was released in 2011 and co-directed with Sam Spiegel.
